Sony Pictures has been clear that Venom: The Last Dance would be the final part of a trilogy, and while the film seemed to wrap up the story of Eddie Brock and his symbiote pal (while leaving the door open for more, of course), we may now know how the studio plans to continue the franchise. According to scooper Daniel Richtman, an Agent Venom movie is in development. In the comics, Agent Venom was Peter Parker's former bully who befriended Eugene "Flash" Thompson, who bonded with the Venom symbiote after losing his legs serving his country. Tony Revolori currently plays Flash in the Spider-Man movies, but The Last Dance may have given us a glimpse of how Sony plans to introduce a new version of the character.
If you haven’t seen Venom: The Last Dance yet, there will be major spoilers ahead from this point on. As Venom sacrifices himself to stop Knull from invading the planet, we see one of the Xenophages eating the legs of one of Strickland’s soldiers, whose last name is listed as Thompson. Then, in the post-credits scene, we see a cockroach near a broken vial that was previously used to house a symbiote viral warehouse. While the studio could decide to ignore this setup (it wouldn’t be the first time) and go with a different origin for Venom’s next host, it seems likely that a new version of Flash Thompson will eventually be cast to continue the Lethal Protector’s adventures in the SSU.
Everything You Need to Know About Venom: The Last Dance With Tom Hardy
In Venom: The Last Dance, Tom Hardy returns as Venom, one of Marvel’s biggest and most complex characters, for the final film in the trilogy. Eddie and Venom are on the run. With both worlds drawn in and the net tightening, the duo is forced to make a devastating decision that brings down the curtain on Venom and Eddie’s final dance. The film stars Tom Hardy, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach, Stephen Graham, and Rhys Ifans. Kelly Marcel directs from a screenplay she wrote, based on a story by Hardy and Marcel. The film is produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, Kelly Marcel, Tom Hardy, and Hutch Parker. Venom: The Last Dance opens in theaters on October 24.
