Nicole Kidman has addressed one of the most widespread things circulating about her: the 2001 photos that portray her while apparently celebrating in the street. It's not the first time that Nicole Kidman has found herself at the center of misinterpretations related to her public image. The photos, which have gone viral over the years and have given rise to numerous memes and jokes online, show Nicole Kidman visibly excited and smiling. According to rumors, they were taken immediately after the actress left her lawyer's office following the finalization of her divorce.
However, when interviewed by British GQ, Nicole Kidman explained that this story does not correspond to reality. “That was not me; that was a movie, that was not real life,” she said, underlining how the spread of these images has contributed to creating an untrue narrative. When asked if the photos were taken at that particular moment in her life, the actress categorically denied it, reiterating that there is no connection between those images and her divorce from Cruise.

Another well-known example is that of her “embarrassing” applause at the 2017 Oscars, which quickly went viral. On this episode too, Kidman provided a clarification, explaining that the gesture was because she was wearing a heavy and precious ring borrowed for the event. “I was afraid of ruining the jewelry,” she said, adding that images often don’t tell the whole truth and that there are always contextual details that the public misses.
