Japan's Toei robot anime is finally being made into a live-action movie in Hollywood. Director Rawson Marshall Thurber of the movie Voltron spoke of his enthusiasm ahead of the start of filming. The original Voltron is a re-edited version of Toei Animation's "King of the Beasts GoLion" (1981-1982) and "Armored Fleet Dairugger XV" (1982-1983), which gained a social phenomenon of popularity in the United States at the time. In 2016, a reboot was produced as the Netflix series "Voltron" by DreamWorks & Studio Mir.

Director Thurber, who sent a message to the official US Instagram, is currently in Gold Coast, Australia, in preparation for the start of filming in early December 2024. From the studio where preparations are underway, he said, "I'm very excited" about the opportunity to make a live-action movie. "I've loved Voltron since I was a kid, and I've wanted to make this movie since I was 8 years old. We want to stay true to the heart and spirit of Voltron. We have a whole new generation of pilots in this film, and we're reimagining Voltron in a live-action world, but we're going to stay true to the heart and spirit of the original and the familiar elements that I and all of you love."

The series began airing in 1984. Director Thurber also said, "It's taken 40 years to get to this point, but I promise it's worth the wait." At the end of the video, a huge set in preparation and the team of staff involved in the production are also shown. After working on comedies such as "Dodgeball" (2004) and "The Family" (2013), Thurber has recently worked on films starring Dwayne Johnson, such as "Skyscraper" (2018) and "Red Notice" (2021). His outstanding comedic sense and skill in directing large-scale action scenes will be combined in this live-action adaptation of a robot anime.

The cast includes newcomer Daniel Quinn Toy, who will be making his film debut, as well as Henry Cavill, who plays Superman in the DC movies and in "Argyle" (2024). The film will be produced by Amazon/MGM.
