The new Star Wars drama "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew" has the potential to become a series that follows the growth of child actors, like the Harry Potter series. "Skeleton Crew" is set after the collapse of the Empire and is a coming-of-age story about the great adventures of four boys and girls who get lost in the vast galaxy. A mysterious man played by Jude Law guides the children. Director Jon Watts hinted at the possibility of a long-running series on Comicbook.com.
In the main story, which will be distributed on December 4th, he said, "I wanted to make the first season feel self-contained," and "I definitely have ideas about where the story will continue," referring to future developments. Christopher Ford, a longtime partner of Watts and the screenwriter and producer of this work, also commented, "It's interesting because it's like you get a story for free just because the children grow up. So whatever you do, the growth drama in Star Wars becomes part of the story."
As he said, "This kind of thing has never been depicted before. Anakin suddenly grew up too," there was a gap of about 10 years between "Episode I: The Phantom Menace" and "Episode II: Attack of the Clones," and Anakin's childhood growth story was omitted. Watts' interest is "to watch the children grow up, like Harry Potter, and see them adapt to the galaxy as they get older."
In the "Harry Potter" series, he became popular along with Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, who were 11-12 years old at the time of the first film, and fans around the world became familiar with them while watching the growth of the child actors. If "Skeleton Crew" goes well, it may be possible to follow the child actors as they grow up and go on adventures across the galaxy. "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew" will be exclusively released on Disney+ on December 4, 2024, with the first two episodes being released simultaneously in Japan and the US.
